UK: Iranians not explaining our sailors' detention

The British government says Iran's delay in giving full explanation of why it detained five British sailors is increasingly worrying.

Britain's Foreign Office says it has repeatedly tried to confirm where the yachtsmen are being held.

The office noted that Iran's ambassador to London, Rasoul Movahedian, met Tuesday with the head of Britain's diplomatic service, Peter Ricketts. A statement released after the meeting said Ricketts had demanded that Iran allow consular officials to visit the crewmen.

The office says that it has now been nearly a week since the sailors' detention and that the lack of "a full explanation of what had happened and clarity on Iranian intentions were a matter of increasing concern."
