SARASOTA, Fla. White Sox general manager Ron Schueler said he'dlike to have his team completely assembled by Friday's reportingdate, which means he'll be signing a few free agents in the next fewdays.
But don't look for the Cubs' Mark Grace to take over FrankThomas' position at first base.
"Being realistic, I would say no," Schueler said of his chancesto land Grace. "If I'm him, I'm not looking for a one-year deal.And I'm not prepared to sign anyone for two or three years."
Schueler began negotiating with player agents Sunday night, andwill send a scout to Wednesday's free-agent camp in Homestead, Fla.
