Fed: Coup was illegal, says new Fiji PM

The prime minister installled by Fiji's coup leaders has admitted the military takeover
of the country is an illegal act.

But JONA SENILAGAKALI says it was a lesser evil .. in comparison to the corruption
of the ousted government.

The military doctor's told ABC radio the coup was designed to clean up the mess of
much bigger illegal acts.

SENILAGAKALI also says his appointment as Prime Minister took him totally by suprise
.. and he merely followed orders .. and took the job.

He says he wasn't even aware of his new position .. until it was announced at a media
conference by coup leader FRANK BAINIMARAMA.
